Implementation of Management Information Systems and Decision Support Systems by several public and private companies in Pakistan, coupled with the Government support, has created a boom in IT consultancy industry. New consultancy firms are formed everyday and existing companies are shifting their focus towards IT management to take advantage of the prevailing scenario. The trend has created number of growth opportunities for IT professionals, making it very difficult for companies to retain their IT support staff. The increasing cost of IT management and high turnover rate in the IT department has forced many companies to outsource their IT processes and operations. The increasing importance of IT management for businesses and enormous opportunity in the IT industry led to the formation of DTech- IT consultancy business of Dewan group. The DTech started off by developing software for complete computerization of Dewan Sugar Mills. By the same time, it started automation of business processes at Dewan Farooque Motors Ltd. The successful completion of both the projects gave an impetus to modernization of management process at DMG.
